One of the biggest trends of the season, sheer fabric, just happens to be one of my favorites. The versatility of using sheer fabric is endless. From organza to lace, designers and the high street have been utilizing the trend in skirts, shirts, dresses and accessories. One of my favorites, the sheer maxi makes for the perfect fall piece. Using sheer pieces in your wardrobe is a mark of the daring and the confident. My advice? Go for it. Play with your proportions and layer it up to create the perfect look. This is definitely a trend worth trying, so get out there and rock it.

Rodarte’s new spring collection was filled with gorgeous monochrome looks with edgy accents. Fringe ran rampant, being used as trim on skirts and tops. Sheer cut outs and bare midriffs added some interest by showing a bit of skin. My favorite element was the use of scorpions as a motif in several of the pieces. I also really loved the lock earrings as well. They were a great accessory to add, and I’m toying with the idea of recreating my own pair. But how did you guys like the collection?

Get excited for Nasty Gal’s new shoe line. Nasty gal has always offered the best in fashion (especially shoes). They have sold Jeffrey Campbell, a cult favorite, along with some other pretty awesome brands. The Cult, is a new line of shoes designed and made exclusively by Nasty Gal. They have taken the best aspects of their clothing line and put them into shoes. There are cut outs, metallics, hardware, everything a Nasty Gal would want in a pair of shoes.
Here are some of my favorites from the line:
Kicking off my New York Fashion Week coverage is one of my long time favorites. Jill Stuart always seems to keep me interested with her predominantly feminine aesthetic, because she always mixes things up. This time, for Spring 2014 she presented a beautifully contradictory collection. She kept her signature feminine, flirty silhouettes with ruffles and lace, but injected a rock and roll element. Edgy leather and rocker details elevated her pieces and differentiated them from previous collections. There was a very grungy vibe to the styling as well. The perfectly unkempt hair and makeup complemented the clothing and pulled the whole look together. Stuart succeeded in her goals of creating an on trend but innovative and stylish collection, and personally I loved it. But what do you think?
It’s that time of year again…Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is here. Keep coming back to be updated on the best of New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2014.
